Developing a new and vibrant facility for San Francisco’s wholesale flower marketplace through the renovation of a historic group of warehouse structures, will reinvigorate the area and secure the long-term future for this beloved City institution.

San Francisco Flower Market

The San Francisco Flower Market (SFFM) has long been an informal cultural institution in San Francisco, serving as both a key wholesale supplier for the tourist and events industry as well as a place where San Franciscans go to buy floral products with their family and friends. The SFFM is home to 35 mostly small Bay Area-owned businesses that provide cut-flowers, floral supplies, and green plants to wholesale and retail customers alike. After many years in an aged and outdated facility, the San Francisco Flower Market will move to a new facility securing its long-term future in San Francisco. Through the complete renovation of a dilapidated collection of historic warehouses at the base of Potrero Hill, JLA’s design reinvigorates the historical context with a vibrant San Francisco marketplace.  The project will complete top to bottom renovation of the warehouse structures including seismic upgrades, all new infrastructure, restoration of a small brick structure and the creation of over 30 individual stalls for flower venders ranging from a 500 sf flower stall to a 15,000 sf wholesale/ retail store. The project adds an internal mezzanine level and a new parking and loading structure which doubles as an outdoor marketplace.  The project is designed to meet LEED Silver sustainability metrics.

The project is currently under construction and is anticipated to be completed by Fall of 2024.
